Helping our Heroes

Louis Hayter, who lives in Adderbury, Oxfordshire, has made a big splash on behalf of Help the Heroes, by raising more than £1,000 for the charity. To raise the money Louis swam from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier.

His parents Anton and Kathy Hayter, the licensees of the Crown and Tuns in Deddington, were fully behind his efforts Louis had set himself a target of raising £500 for the charity, but in the end more than doubled the figure. Kathy Hayter said: "We are immensely proud of him.

Louis has dreamt of joining the army since he was about three-years old, so it's no surprise to us that this is the charity he has chosen," said Kathy. Louis said: "I have wanted to join the marines since I was about three years-old.

Our soldiers have done some great work out in Iraq, Afghanistan and much closer to home, and I want to show my appreciation to them and their families for putting their lives on the line for our country.
