Looking for a perfect country pub?

Anyone looking for a country pub for a relaxing lunch or dinner will find a warm welcome at The Gate Hangs High on the outskirts of the village of Hook Norton. New tenants Pete and Jo Champion and their daughter Cristy say the Gate is the perfect, homely, country pub offering a traditional Cotswold menu – with hearty roasts, steak, lambs liver, cod and chips all on offer.

For those wanting something lighter sandwiches are available. And of course a range of Hook Norton beers are served. The Gate Also has four luxurious letting rooms, which are ideal for the business traveller or tourist wanting an alternative to anonymous hotels or tourists to the area.

The name of this pub originates from a poem called Win-hill by Ebenezer Elliott), an English poet, who died in 1849, known as the Corn Law Rhymer. "Stop! For the gate hangs well that hinders none; Refresh, and pay, then stoutly travel on!"
