Crocodile or buffalo at the Carpenters Arms?
It will be a beer festival with a difference at the Carpenters Arms, Lower Boddington, Daventry, Northamptonshire. For Hook Norton’s youngest licensee Mark Higgs is planning a beer festival with a difference on Sunday 27 August.
He is trying to source supplies of buffalo and crocodile to serve at his barbecue. And if that does not work out he will definitely be cooking some locally reared lamb and beef. On the bar will be at least five of Hook Norton’s award wining beers – 303, Dark, Haymaker, Best and Old Hooky – and if all goes well there will be a rare opportunity to try, on draught Cotswold Lion – brewed to celebrate 40 years of protected status for the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the evening two bands will be playing – the Westburys and the Kettering-based Hutch. Mark’s ambition for this rural Hook Norton pub is to make the Carpenters Arms a proper local, where the food is fresh, the company fun and the service friendly.
