Ye Olde Reindeer beers are the best
One of Banbury’s best loved pubs has been recognised for the quality of the beers it serves.
Ye Olde Reindeer, licensee Tony Puddifoot is celebrating winning the Hook Norton/Stella Artois Best Kept Cellar competition.
The award for the Parsons Street pub acknowledges the excellence of all the beers served in the pub.
As the winner Mr Puddifoot picked up a cheque for £250 and the Bill Clarke Memorial Salver.
“I am scrupulous in the way I look after my beers, it is the only way to make sure that my customers are served perfect pints. The better the cellar management of beers, the better the beer will be in the customer’s glass,” said Mr Puddifoot.
And it is not just Hook Norton Brewery and Stella Artois that say the beers at this Oxfordshire pub are excellent, as it is listed in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, the AA’s Good Pub Guide and is named by The Guardian newspaper as one of the top 150 gastro-pubs in the country.
Two other licensees were Highly Commended in the Stella Artois sponsored Hook Norton Best Kept Cellar Competition – Peter Wixey of the Gate Inn, Brailes and Nick and Hilary Holt, licensees of the Cherington Arms, Cherington, near Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire.
Most Improved awards were given to Rebecca Ridgway of the Red Lion, Albion Street, Chipping Norton, and Ian Payne of the Eagle Tavern, Witney.
