Angel at Burford recognised as one of the best by AA
Paul and Sandra Swain are determined to make the Angel, 14 Witney Road, Burford, the best restaurant with bedrooms in the Cotswolds. And Paul and Sandra’s hard work has been highly commended by the AA, placing it in the top 10 per cent of places offering accommodation in the country. In addition, the AA has awarded the Angel four stars, for the quality of its stylish accommodation and it has been given two AA rosettes for the excellence of the restaurant.
Paul Swain is well known in the area for his expertise and talents with such established hotels as the Lamb & The Inn for All Seasons. Together with top chef Dave Latters, Paul and Sandra are establishing the Angel as one of the finest restaurants around. “We have three en-suite individually styled, deluxe rooms available for reservation with an emphasis on quality and comfort. Our food is renowned locally for its blend of tradition and individuality with menus changing regularly; though always, a few favourites remain,” said Paul Swain.
A short walk from Burford’s attractive high street, this 16th century Cotswold restaurant, with rooms, retains a wealth of original features - but also look out for the hand carved wooden angel created by customer John Hoyle to celebrate Paul and Sandra moving to the Angel.
The Angel has a secluded south facing courtyard and walled garden and it is an idyllic place to enjoy a meal alfresco or for people just to sit, relax, read a newspaper and enjoy a glass of champagne or Hooky Bitter.
