Roger Constable and Julie Smith say the Kings will be head and shoulders above the rest.

Running a successful, vibrant pub is rarely plain sailing, but with three marinas close-by, the new tenants at the Kings Head, Roger Constable and Julie Smith are confident nothing will scupper their plans to make the pub a success with locals and visitors.

The Kings HeadThe Kings Head, in Napton on the Hill, Warwickshire is much more than a community local – it is a pub, which offers hospitality to passing walkers, canal boaters, business people or those wanting somewhere special to celebrate a family occasion.

Roger and Julie are no strangers to running a Hook Norton pub, they used to be behind the bar at the Black Horse in Leamington before having their own free house in Long Itchington. The couple then went to live in Spain but, on returning home the lure of running a Hook Norton pub was too much.

“We like Hook Norton, they are a good family brewer, who care about the people who run their pubs,” said Roger. He and Julie promise good food, excellent Hook Norton beer and laughter will be on the menu at the pub.

“The Kings Head is our home, but it is also the hub of village life,” said Roger, “and we want people to enjoy it” And coming from a family of 20, Roger certainly knows a thing or two about people coming together in a pub to have a good time. “We offer welcoming pub grub and the Hooky beers will be in perfect condition,” said Roger.

The menu includes steaks, pies, ham, fish and a vegetarian dish. There is a range of sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes and there is a menu especially for the children complete with pasta, chips fish fingers and sausages. Roasts are offered on Sunday.

The front bar is vibrant and friendly, where it is possible to play darts or watch Sky TV; adjacent is a cosy snug area where many prefer to dine, this leads onto a stylish, large dining area, suitable for hosting a large family party or business meeting.

The pub has a large car park and a relaxing garden. Napton-on-the-Hill often referred to as just Napton is a small village situated off the A425 road between the towns of Daventry and Southam, which is a few miles to the west of the village.

Nearby is Napton Marina, located on the junction of the Oxford and Grand Union Canals, which is widely used as a base for families on canal boat holidays.

The Kings Head currently opens at noon everyday and closes at 11pm.
