Gloucester Rugby team visit Hooky
Last Saturday, the Brewery played host to a number of international rugby stars including British Lion Richard Hibbard, as well as current England Star Billy Twelvetrees and other members of the Gloucester Rugby Squad. The Gloucester team called in as part of a team building day which saw them arrive at the Brewery Saturday afternoon in fancy dress! The players enjoyed a trip around the Brewery in the capable hands of Brewery Engineer (and Gloucester Fan) Ben Stowe (the name of the England player who did the ground floor tour on Ben's bike will be forever a secret). After signing shirts and autographs for local Gloucester fans who had heard about their arrival the team then headed back to Gloucester, many of them knowing more about brewing than they did before
Bruce Benyon, Hooky Operations Manager explained that the visit had come about by chance following some Social Media interaction. “James Hook one of Gloucester’s key players is known by all and sundry in the rugby world as Hooky”, he explained. “His team mate and fellow Wales international Richard Hibbard had asked him on Twitter whether he owned the Brewery, and I picked it up and got into a conversation with Richard on Twitter which ended up in them coming to the Brewery to see what we do. They were very interested and particularly Richard and James who are threatening to come back and spend a day in our new micro-brewery plant brewing a beer themselves, so perhaps some time later in the year customers might be able to enjoy a pint of “James Hooky”! “.
