The Baton Relay Meets Hooky Brewery

Last Saturday, The Baton, a military charity which seeks to give direct support to members of the Armed Forces and their families ran their 6th Annual  Run Of Remembrance from Brize Norton to the National Memorial Arboretum at Lichfield, where they lay a Baton Wreath Of Remembrance.

This year, runners from the Relay including Olympic Gymnast and Sky Sports Presenter Suzanne Dando (a patron of the Charity), were able to stop off at a number of Hook Norton Brewery pubs on the route, meet customers and collect money for this very worthy cause.

In addition, James Clarke, Hook Norton Brewery Managing Director and London Marathon veteran was able to join in the event by running the first leg of the relay along with Charity Founder Alan Rowe and Danish Veteran Kim Thygesen. James told us he found the experience very moving and fitness allowing, he hopes to participate again next year.

Baton Charity founder Alan Rowe was equally pleased with the event, the relay of 110 miles was completed in a record time of 13 hours and Alan was able to tell us afterwards than some of the money raised had already gone to help a family in real need.

Next year’s relay will take place on 20th and 21st June 2015 and James, Alan and the whole of the Baton team are already planning for the event.
