Deputy Manager

Department: Visitors Centre Shop, Restaurant, Tours & Events

Hours: 48 hrs per week

If you’ve got hospitality, leisure or retail experience in a supervisory position then we’d love to hear from you! The Deputy Manager role is key to our success so we are looking for someone at this business to be passionate about us as well as our guests.

This is a multifaceted role across area of the business that include; retail both online and the brewery shop, restaurant in our Malthouse Kitchen, managing our tours & guides, events, weddings, and conference facilities.

Day to day you will be overseeing the running of all departments, directing the team to ensure all jobs are complete to the set standard. As well as the day to day operations of the business you will need to follow leads and enquiries for weddings, conferences and functions, converting them into leads.

Business operating hours:

Monday – Saturday 08:00 – 18:00 , Sundays 09:00-16:00 , evening events.

The Role:

Deputising for the General Manager
Lead the team in delivering an excellent guest experience
Training and development of the team

What we are looking for:

·         At least 18 months experience in a supervisory role

·         Kitchen Experience

·         Hospitality, leisure or retail experience

·         Passionate about great service

·         Enjoys and wants to be an active member of a team

·         Great eye for detail

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Ability to work calmly under pressure

·         Skilled in organising and planning

·         Excellent verbal communication

·         An understanding of what amazing guest service looks like

What skills are we looking for:

·         managing budgets

·         planning menus

·         ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation/guidelines

·         promoting and marketing the business

·         overseeing stock levels & ordering supplies

·         producing staff rotas

·         handling customer enquiries and complaints

·         taking reservations

·         greeting and advising customers

·         problem solving

·         setting targets

·         handling administration and paperwork

·         liaising with customers, employees, suppliers, licensing authorities and sales representatives

·         making improvements to the running of the business and developing the restaurant.

Chef

Business operating hours:

Monday – Saturday 08:00-17:30, Sundays 09:00-16:00 , evening events

An exciting opportunity to join our growing team of chefs at Hook Norton Brewery’s Malthouse Kitchen. As well as our busy breakfast and lunchtime trade, cooking for the public and 10,000 guests that come on tours each year, we are holding more internal events, parties and weddings which will give you the chance to earn overtime.

Job Type: Full-time

·         Work with the Kitchen Team & General Manager on implementing new menus and processes.

·         Assess, negotiate and work with suppliers, to receive the best quality produce and the best market price, adhering to budgets and due diligence.

·         Liaise with suppliers – Manage all food procurement, stock inwards, stock management and minimise wastage.

·         Control and minimise all kitchen associated costs without detriment to the business or service.

·         Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and budgets are managed successfully.

·         Flexibility in working hours and location as the business dictates.

·         implement and manage back of house due diligence, cleaning schedules and health & safety policies

·         Cooks guests’ orders according to their preferences

·         Determine how much food to order and maintains an appropriate supply at the restaurant

Experience:

·         Line Cook / Chef 18 months (Required) or would consider Sous Chef

·         Experience of catering for functions and events would be an advantage.
