CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF FINCHES AT THE ELEPHANT & CASTLE

We have teamed up with The Elephant & Castle, Bloxham to brew a unique ale, Legacy. Simon Finch and a handful of eager locals brewed the beer to celebrate 50 years of the Finch family being licensees of the historic and traditional pub.

Chas Finch took over the running of the pub in 1974, moving there with his family, wife Betty and son Simon. As well as a publican, Chas was a member of the British Institute of Innkeepers and devoted a great deal of his time doing charitable work for the licensed trade. He was also chairman of the Licensed Victuallers National Homes in 1998 and a founding trustee of the Licensed Trade Charity.

Simon took over the pub following the death of his father in 2008 and continues to make The Elephant, or ‘Ele’ as it is affectionately known, a real community pub offering excellent hospitality to locals and visitors alike.

James Clarke, Managing Director commented: In an ever challenging environment it is testament to the family’s commitment and dedication to their trade and more importantly their customers to keep the pub over such a long period. We are honoured to help Simon brew their ale in this, our own 175th Anniversary Year making it even more historic and special. We look forward to sampling a pint in the very near future.
