Celebrating a Decade of Dedication: Andy Thomas Rises Through the Ranks at Hook Norton Brewery
It’s another week of celebrating significant milestones at Hook Norton Brewery, as we honour Andy Thomas, who marks a remarkable ten-year anniversary in the brewhouse.
Starting his journey in 2015 at an entry-level position, Andy’s hard work and passion for brewing have seen him steadily rise to the position of Brewery Supervisor, now holding a prestigious HIT Brewery apprenticeship qualification.
Andy has become an indispensable member of the Hook Norton team, playing a crucial role in the brewery’s ongoing equipment upgrade projects. With the brewery’s unique and historic setting, modernising operations while preserving its cherished heritage presents a considerable challenge. However, Andy expertly navigates this delicate balance, ensuring that Hooky is well-equipped for future generations of production.
Beyond his supervisory responsibilities, Andy’s creative flair shines through in his role as a recipe developer for some of this year’s popular cask range beers. His expertise also extends to the vital task of selecting hop varieties for the following year’s brews, a mission that takes him across the Atlantic to Washington State with the Charles Faram team to personally inspect the impressive hop farms. And, we’d be remiss not to mention, Andy is also rather adept at the important duty of beer sampling!
“Congratulations, Tommo, on a decade of unwavering commitment to Hook Norton Brewery!” a spokesperson for the brewery stated. “We raise a glass to your incredible achievements and eagerly anticipate the next ten years of your contributions to Hooky.”
We’re also fairly certain that in those ten years, Andy has been on time for almost every shift… give or take a minute or two!
