Hook Norton Brewery and Oakham Ales Reunite to Launch Sun Drift Pale Ale

Two of Britain’s most respected independent breweries have joined forces once again to create the perfect beer for summer. Hook Norton Brewery and craft beer legends Oakham Ales have reunited to brew Sun Drift Pale Ale (4.1%) – a crisp, refreshing golden cask ale bursting with vibrant fruit character.

Sun Drift is an easy-drinking pale ale designed for long summer afternoons and warm evenings. Brewed with carefully selected hops, it delivers bright citrus aromas, tropical fruit flavours and delicate hints of strawberry, all balanced by a gentle biscuit sweetness.

Andy Thomas, Production Manager at Hook Norton Brewery, said:

“It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with the team at Oakham Ales. We wanted to create a beer that really captures the spirit of summer – light, vibrant and incredibly drinkable. Sun Drift is packed with fresh fruit character while remaining beautifully balanced, making it the ideal pint for warm days and relaxed evenings.”

The collaboration also gave both breweries the opportunity to use Belma hops, a variety renowned for its bright citrus profile and subtle strawberry notes.

Ed Sharman, Head Brewer at Oakham Ales, said: Choosing the hops for this one, we were keen to use Belma hops, a variety close to our hearts as myself and Andy had first come across it when we visited our old friends and renowned US hop growers Puterbaugh Farms in the Yakima Valley. Oakham then brewed a single hop beer with it in January this year and so were keen to use it again. A really impressive hop that layers soft strawberry and melon notes over vibrant citrus and tropical fruit flavours. Working with Hook Norton again has been a fantastic experience (albeit with a few more stairs than we’re used to!) and brewing on their traditional Victorian kit was a real experience.”
