Spectacular Horse and Carriage Drive Raises Funds for Thames Valley Air Ambulance

A spectacular charity horse and carriage drive took place on Sunday 26 July in aid of Thames Valley Air Ambulance, bringing an impressive collection of heavy and light horse-drawn carriages through Hook Norton and attracting crowds of spectators along the route.

The event, departing from Hook Norton Brewery, featured nine heavy horse carriages, showcasing some of the finest working horses in the country, including magnificent Shire horses and Suffolk Punches.

Leading the procession in memorable style were the Hook Norton Brewery’s own Shire horses, travelling in a striking unicorn formation. They were joined by four light horse carriages, including two teams of four creating a wonderful spectacle as the procession made its way through the surrounding villages

The drive proved to be a huge draw for the local community, with Hook Norton Brewery exceptionally busy throughout the day. Spectators lined the route to watch the horses and carriages pass by, while large numbers also gathered at The Pear Tree, and the Gate Hangs High.

The event provided a rare opportunity for the public to see such a variety of magnificent horse-drawn carriages not seen anywhere else, while also raising valuable funds and awareness for Thames Valley Air Ambulance, whose specialist crews provide critical emergency medical care across the region. Held annually on the last Sunday in July, this years drive proved to be the biggest and best to date, both in terms of carriages forward and money raised.
