A Night of Celebration and Gratitude at Hook Norton Brewery’s Open Tap
Last night’s Open Tap at Hook Norton Brewery was more than just a gathering; it was a testament to community spirit, creativity, and heartfelt appreciation. The brewery buzzed with excitement as two significant events unfolded, leaving attendees with a warm sense of camaraderie.
The evening began with a special welcome for Clare Pickin, the deserving winner of the Cask Marque Ale Trail. Clare, who had the unique opportunity to collaborate with the brewery’s Managing Director to create “Pick Me Up,”

Pick Me Up – 3.4% Mild
a delightful 3.4% Mild, was invited to pour and savor her creation. The limited-edition brew, met with enthusiastic approval from the packed Malthouse Kitchen, is now available in select Hook Norton pubs and stockists. However, enthusiasts are urged to act quickly, as this special batch is expected to disappear rapidly.
Following the celebration of Clare’s brewing achievement, the atmosphere shifted to one of profound gratitude. James, representing Hook Norton Brewery, had the honor of presenting a £1,000.00 cheque to The Firefighters Charity. This gesture was a heartfelt thank you for the invaluable service provided by the fire service during the devastating stable block fire last year. The funds were raised through various initiatives, including collaborative beer projects, collections, and donations, highlighting the community’s collective effort to support those who protect them.
The event was attended by representatives from fire stations across North and West Oxfordshire, including Hook Norton, Charlbury, Chipping Norton, and Witney, all of whom played a crucial role in responding to the May fire. Notable attendees included the Chief Officers’ PA, the Deputy Chief Officer, the incident commander from the fire, and a representative from The Firefighters Charity.
The Open Tap provided a platform for the Hook Norton community to express their sincere appreciation for the dedication and public service of the firefighters. The brewery acknowledged the sacrifices made by these individuals, many of whom are on-call and respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice.
