Sulgrave is a popular South Northamptonshire conservation village situated in undulating countryside close to the North Oxfordshire border.

The Star Inn is over 300 years old and lies close to Sulgrave Manor, the ancestral home of the first president of the United States, George Washington. It is also the only English Public House known to have been frequented by the legendary actor John “Duke” Wayne.

On a visit to Sulgrave in 1889 the honourable William Taft, Chief Justice of America said, “Sulgrave is a charming little spot only hidden in the loveliness of its seclusion, with the old Star inn by the roadside a relic of bygone days when comforts were plain and ale was plenty”.

We also now cater for Wedding Receptions, Parties, Wakes, Larger Meal numbers, Charity Events etc and now have our own Marquee for hire with events.

Our Horses are on the land at the bottom of the garden (ex racehorse ‘Harriet’ and the pony ‘Billie-Jean’) make sure you pop in as say hello to them!

The Star has three cosy, quiet and comfortable B&B rooms. All rooms have tea / coffee making facilities, a flat screen television, and free guest WIFI. We offer a choice of breakfasts.

Children aged between 2 and 14 an additional £10 each, whilst sharing with an adult
